HWM and Young Parents are not only a hit with readers, they are also hot favourites with judges at the Asia Publishing Awards.
TWO SPHM titles shone in one of the award categories at the fourth Asian Publishing Awards (APA) on July 9.
Young Parents came up tops in the Design and Layout category of the Asian Magazine Management Awards with its May 2009 issue cover. Also in the same category was runner-up HWM, who was presented with an Excellence Award for its January 2010 issue cover.
This year’s APA received 70 projects from 32 companies in ten countries. A total of eight winning awards and sixteen excellence awards from eight categories were eventually presented at the award ceremony held in Ho Chi Min, Vietnam.
Making the cut was not easy. For the Design and Layout category, judges looked for the use of the principles, skills, techniques, formats and channels of multimedia communication, visual or otherwise, as part of the criteria. Young Parents stood out as the most outstanding project among the entries.
All winning entries, including the excellence awards, were showcased at the Asian Publishing Convention over Jul 8 to Jul 9.
The Asian Publishing Awards recognizes best publishing practices in Asia. It incorporates the Asian Magazine Management Awards, Asian Book Publishing Awards, and Asian Corporate Communications Awards with a total of eight categories.
The panel of judges for this year’s awards includes industry heavyweights such as Dr Frank Cintamani, Steve Garton and Allein Moore.
The Awards is presented by The Publishers Resource Center (APC), a one-stop portal where magazine publishers across borders can buy & sell quality content, research own content on-demand, update on relevant media news, track career opportunities and connect with peers 24/7.

Congratulations once again on the well deserved wins!!
In my opinion, the decision to award your wonderful magazines was a very simple choice to make.
Keep up the great work!
All the best,
Frank
