After six rounds of golf, the second Business Times Corporate Golf League 2011 came to an end. Organised by Golf Digest Singapore, 27 corporate teams had fought hard through the tournament, and though only 1 winner was crowned, everyone came away better if only for the new friendships made, and old ones renewed.

From July 2011, the teams comprising some of Singapore’s most blue-chip brands came together to play their favourite game in friendly competition cross the country’s best courses. The games were held at Tanah Merah Country Club, Sentosa Golf Club, Singapore Island Country Club, Raffles Country Club, Laguna National Golf and Country Club, and Seletar Country Club.

Unfortunately, the final round on October 18, held at the Serapong Course less than a month before this year’s Barclays Singapore Open, was rained out after 14 holes. Thankfully, the siren sounded after everyone had the chance to tuck into delicious steak sandwiches kindly sponsored by Morton’s Singapore

OAAG returned this year to win the challenge trophy for the second time. Team SunMoon pushed the defending champion all the way to the final round, but fell a few points short in the end, and finished second. This year, prizes were also given to the Most Improved Team (Citi Singapore), Best Newcomer Team (Team SunMoon), and Most Consistent Team (Singapore Pools), as well as for the top 10 teams in the tournament.

In addition, many lucky draw prizes were given away after the Serapong Round. As in 2010, Singapore’s top cover band Jive Talking entertained the diners at Sentosa after the final round with their special brand of music. Expectedly, Patrick Daniel, SPH Editor-in-Chief for English, Malay and Tamil Newspaper Divisions was called on to belt out a song. But this year, he was joined by Mohd K. Rafin, Executive Director of Park Hotel Group, the event’s main sponsor, on stage.

Twenty-seven teams took part in this year’s event.

The Business Times Corporate Golf League 2011 is presented by Audi, who sponsored an Audi A7 Sportback as a hole-in-one prize. Audemars Piguet was the other hole-in-one sponsor. Other sponsors include Boustead, Centurion, Cerebos, Horizon Yachts, World Golfers Championship Singapore, and dinner sponsors UOB and DBS Bank. Partners include Angkor Golf Resort, FootJoy, Profiters International, Sun-Moon, Titleist, Turkish Airlines and Vertix. Singapore Pools sponsored the Networking Night held in July to kick off the series. The Peak was the media partner.
