At the recent Me Retreat, readers learned how to identify their skin type and the importance of choosing the right skincare with The Skin Pharmacy.
Twenty readers enjoyed an informative session filled with skincare tips at our recent Me Retreat with The Skin Pharmacy held at their City Square Mall outlet. Besides taking participants through the basics of skincare, certified pharmacist and owner of The Skin Pharmacy, Mah Mei Hui also addressed common myths about skincare.
She first described the different types of skin – dry, oily, combination, normal, sensitive and acne-prone – and how to choose the right types of products for a basic skincare routine.
Eg Cream cleansers are best suited for dry skin; gel for oily or combination skin; foam for oily skin and powder for all skin types.
The use of sunscreen was heavily emphasised and Mei Hui clarified that harmful UV rays can penetrate glass, so you shouldn't skip it even if you're working indoors all day. According to her "sunscreen is the best anti-aging investment" as sun damage accelerates the formation of wrinkles and dark spots.
All participants enjoyed an exclusive 20 per cent discount on The Skin Pharmacy products and took home a freshly made personalised serum worth up to $125, as well as a computerised skin analysis voucher worth $20

Mei Hui's 3 Tips for all Skin Types 1. Moisturiser should be applied on damp skin as it can only trap water not produce it 2. Be discerning with product labels – "hypoallergenic" does not mean that the product will not cause allergies and "non-comedogenic" products will still clog pores to a certain extent. 3. Keeping to a strict, daily skincare routine at home is more important than regular facials |
