Herworld.com has been reborn as the improved herworldPLUS and we're as excited as any new mother would be
For the last couple of months, I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night from nightmares about CMS, UAT, tabs versus drop-downs, padding issues, migration script codes, UX confusion, member integration, indigestion and deadlines, deadlines, deadlines.
No, I’m not a computer programmer – having failed maths, much to my maths teacher mother’s disgust – but I’ve somehow ended up immersed in the Stygian depths of website development, code and all.
Why? To bring you a better looking, more comprehensive, interactive and exciting online version of all our fabulous Singapore-centric, women’s interest content, of course.
It started about nine months ago; yes, it’s been just like a pregnancy, with morning sickness, tiredness, mood swings, swollen ankles and all.
After much discussion, the company behind our fabulous titles decided it was time to take up the challenge of the digital world and create a dedicated “women’s interest portal”.
Which is why what was once called Herworld.com is now the new and improved Herworldplus website.
|
Covering all aspects of your life Why Plus? Because now you’ll not only get the same original content based on the concepts in Her World – the shopping, beauty, fashion, relationship and lifestyle stories – but also be able to read fabulous stories from our other leading titles like Her World Brides, Home&Decor, Young Parents and Simply Her. You’ll also have easy access to our Sheshops.com social media community and Diva lifestyle news from Asiaone.com.

Simply Her's recipes are now easily available online |
The idea is to offer our readers something that will resonate with every part of their lives, from fashion and shopping to beauty news – which, let’s face it, are what we’ve always been interested in, whether we’re single, married, or mothers.
On top of the great stuff to read, you’ll also find it easier to navigate the website; we’ve kept the design clean and simple since a great picture of a pair of shoes is often enough for you to know you need them in your wardrobe, right?
We also know how much Singaporean women love to shop, so we’ve separated our Fashion and Shopping sections, creating a dedicated guide for the latter with the latest sales and a shops and brands listing with Google Maps so you can track down the nearest store.

Our Fashion section will focus on international and local trends, fashion insider news and gossip – with dedicated blogs – and lots of great images in our easy-to-use gallery, along with a fashion video player. For the beauty-obsessed, we’ve kept our ever-popular Tried & Tested section with beauty product reviews by actual users and Beauty Picks where we bring you the latest products available here and more blogs about the makeup and skincare issues we all deal with.

For readers who love celebrity gossip, we’ve created a Celebs section to bring you stories on what our favourite stars, both local and international, are up to. There’s also a whole section for funky street style photos from Singapore and around the world; even local “VIPs” will get a go in the Social Stars section. If you love our Top 5 Sexiest…men stories, they’re still there in our Men/Sex section alongside stories on relationships and expert answers to your burning questions. Everything else you love about the old Herworld.com – great giveaways, food and travel reviews and news, Stuff To Do listings and in-depth stories on women’s issues – remain.
Right: In the Men/Sex section right now – Top 12 Sexiest Men in 2011, complete with photos |

It sometimes seemed as though Herworldplus would never arrive (there were times I thought I was in a local version of The Matrix), but thanks to the efforts of our dedicated online team and support from the SPH Magazines family, the website was born on Nov 20, 2011 at 6.01pm exactly; it’s a girl!
Only now, unlike with a real baby, I can get some uninterrupted sleep.
