It might be hard to believe, but Her World magazine is marking 10 years since its annual event to choose the year’s best new beauty products began; and the winners for the 2011 Her World Beauty Awards have just been announced.

The awards ceremony, held on January 21 at the ION Orchard atrium was attended by representatives from major beauty companies, industry leaders and some of Singapore’s top makeup artists. Brands under Shiseido, Estee Lauder, L’Oreal, Clarins, Chanel and others were honoured for raising the standards of the beauty industry every year with their innovations.

“The 10th anniversary of the Her World Beauty Awards is a milestone for us. We were the first magazine to hold an awards ceremony to recognise the best in beauty; we were also the first to let readers vote through an in-book poll. It continues to be the most significant beauty event in the industry, showing the strong support by readers as well as advertisers,” added Ms Yeo.

This year, a judging panel of editors and writers from Her World, including Deputy Editor Denyse Yeo and experts from the industry like Dr Low Chai Ling of Sloane Clinic and makeup artist Clarence Lee evaluated over 520 products launched between October 2009 and September 2010. Their picks form the Editor’s Choices.

The Reader’s Choices were decided by you – readers got to vote for their favourites through nomination forms in the magazine and right here on herworld.com. Over 2,000 votes were received.

In conjunction with the tenth anniversary of the awards, the top ten products of 2011 were selected according to the highest number of readers’ votes.

“It was an extremely competitive beauty season last year, with a host of innovative, effective products arriving on the scene. To commemorate the event’s 10th anniversary and to acknowledge the industry’s efforts, we also wanted to recognise the ten best products as voted by readers,” says Ms Yeo.

The winners are Chanel Ultra Correction Line Repair Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Concentrate, Lancome Teint Miracle Liquid Foundation, SK-II Cellumination Beauty Essence, Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Serum, Crabtree & Evelyn Citron Hand Remedy, D&G Fragrance Anthology, Dove, L'Oreal Paris Renewal Lash Serum, L'Oreal Professionnel Playball Beach Fizz and Biotherm Celluli Laser Slim. Five other special awards were also given out. For the Best New Beauty Face, readers picked Lancome ambassador Julia Roberts while the editors picked Kose Sekkisei ambassador, Olivia Ong. The SK-II facial cabin at TANGS Orchard and La Mer’s facial cabin at Takashimaya won the reader’s and judges’ votes for Best Facial Cabin respectively.

The reader’s choice for Best New Retail Experience went to Chanel’s new boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands while editor’s choice went to Dior’s at ION Orchard. For Best New Brand, reader’s voted for DHC and the editors voted for Shiseido’s Aqualabel.

Rounding off the list, readers picked the Dior Capture Totale One Essential range as the best in detox skincare while editors picked the Lancaster Skin Therapy Range.
