A Celebration of the Best in Food and Wine (Event)
Two months ago, I was enjoying dinner with one of our food panelists and conversation led to an American reality show that takes shots at debunking common myths and perceptions.
In one of the episodes, the TV crew of the series essentially took over the running of a fine dining restaurant. And just for one night, diners were served microwave-heated bread instead of fresh oven-baked ones; frozen meat from a supermarket was used instead of cuts from the restaurant’s usual artisanal source; handpicked tomatoes were replaced with preserved tomatoes fresh – from a can – and diners sipped tap water thinking it was natural spring water.
The outcome, was surprising. At the end of dinner, none of the guests at this posh restaurant knew any better.
