More Queens with higher calibre for Seventeen Queen of Queens 2011

More Queens with higher calibre for Seventeen Queen of Queens 2011

Singapore, 12 December, 2011 – Seventeen, a publication under SPH Magazines, is back to crown the winner of Seventeen Queen of Queens 2011 at Dbl O on 16 Dec from 7.30pm.

Held annually since 2004, this signature competition for Seventeen celebrates everything that is outstanding about young women. This year, the competition will see more fresh faces with the inclusion of pageant queens from tertiary institutions. Pageant queens from National University of Singapore, Singapore Institute of Management and Nanyang Technological University, as well as the new additions this year from Singapore Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic and Republic Polytechnic will come together to compete for the prestigious title of Queen of Queens 2011.

The bar has also been raised to include top calibre participants who had previously performed well in other key pageants held in Singapore, including the likes of Miss Natassha Stewart, a top 10 finalist in the Miss Singapore World 2010 who also won the “Best Catwalk” sash.

“Our finalists in this year’s competition are a stellar group who has really shone through with their charm, beauty and personality,” says Valerie Wee, Contributing Editor, Seventeen Singapore.

“This is our 8th year; and as we continue to see an increasing outreach via our magazine to all the tertiary students in Singapore, we are getting more and more girls who want to be a part of this prestigious event. This is why we have decided to include the pageant queens from polytechnics in this year’s contest.”

The Queens will be judged based on their catwalk (poise), confidence, personality, Q&A and public votes. Voting takes place via the competition’s microsite at www.seventeen.com.sg/qoq11.

Seventeen’s Summer Dance competition first runner-up dance group, Rytefully 14, will also be taking the stage to provide entertainment for the night.

The competition is presented by main sponsor M1 as well as other heavyweight sponsors like New Look, The Face Shop, Freshkon and Canon. The winner will walk away with $1000 cash prize as well as sponsor products such as the latest Canon IXUS camera and a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S mobile phone.
