Two home-grown fashion designers, Phua Chun Huen and Joanna Lim, will represent Singapore at the Harper’s BAZAAR Asia NewGen Fashion Award 2017 on 26 October. They will be showcasing their collections, alongside four other regional designers, to more than 400 guests.
Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore, in collaboration with Swarovski, will once again host the final runway show – with six designers from Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand battling it out for the top spot – at the National Gallery Singapore as part of Singapore Fashion Week.
The regional winner will be crowned after the finale, and he/she will walk away with a scholarship for a master’s degree in Fashion and Luxury Brand Management at the prestigious Istituto Marangoni, along with $10,000 cash and $15,000 worth of Swarovski crystals.
Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore, along with its counterparts from Indonesia and Thailand, initiated the Harper’s BAZAAR Asia NewGen Fashion Award in 2013 as a platform for up-and-coming fashion designers to showcase their talent. The regional competition scouts for new talent and creates the opportunity for continued learning by forging a partnership with the internationally renowned fashion design school, Istituto Marangoni.
Winner of the Singapore league, Phua Chun Huen, and runner-up, Joanna Lim, emerged triumphant after the four-month search came to a close in August 2017. Close to 200 people showed up to admire their work up close at an event to unveil of the winner at Adrift by David Myers, Marina Bay Sands.
The winner and all six finalists’ collections will be featured in all three Asian editions of Harper’s BAZAAR.
You and your photographer/camera crew are invited to the Harper’s BAZAAR Asia NewGen Fashion Award 2017.
