Adspend forecast for Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan

Last month, we attended eMarketer and IAB’s sharing session on their inaugural Adspend Report for Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Here are the key points for marketers to note:

  • Due to differing internet and smartphone penetration rates, digital advertising growth rates vary significantly across the region.
  • In terms of digital’s share of total media adspend, Taiwan leads the pack with about half (51%) of total adspend by 2020 expected to be digital. This is followed by Singapore at 30.8% and Hong Kong at 24%.
  • Singapore’s digital adspend will see double-digit growth through 2019. This will be mostly driven by mobile. By 2020, mobile will form 90% of digital adspend and a quarter of total adspend in Singapore.
