Media Release: Close to 7,000 female runners took part in Shape Run 2019

In its 14th edition, Shape Run, Singapore’s leading all-women’s race, concluded yet another successful run at Kallang Practice Track this morning. Since its inception in 2006, Shape Run has seen over 112,000 participants taking part in the 10km, 5km, and 1.8km family run categories.


This year, close to 7,000 runners challenged the scenic race route across three categories – the 5km Women’s Competitive, the 10km Women’s Competitive and a fun 1.8km Family Run. The following runners are this year’s winners in the competitive categories:


– Sharon Tan, 40min6sec (1st prize, 10km Women’s Open)
– Vivian Tang, 40min53sec (2nd prize, 10km Women’s Open)
– Verna Goh, 43min41sec (3rd prize, 10km Women’s Open)

– Zoe McParlin, 19min42sec (1st prize, 5km Women’s Open)
– Valerie Yong, 20min31sec (2nd prize, 5km Women’s Open)
– Nicola Clement, 23min36sec (3rd prize, 5km Women’s Open)


The winners took home attractive prizes worth over $2,500, and all participating runners – including families who took part in the 1.8km Family Run – also got a chance to walk away with a race pack worth over $250 and a well-deserved, specially designed Shape Run finisher’s medal.


For the first time in Singapore’s race history, Shape Run’s all-women pacer squad led at 5min pace intervals – for 60min, 65min, 70min, 75min and 80min paces – in the 10km category. The addition of more pacer groups this year allowed more participants to reap the benefits of running together with pacers – who helped the runners stay motivated throughout the race to achieve their targeted timing.


This year, Shape Run also saw a second successful partnership with popular homegrown design brand, Ang Ku Kueh Girl and Friends, to produce an exclusive limited edition Shape x Ang Ku Kueh Girl and Friends tote bag for all participants.


After the run, participants were also treated to on-site festivities at the Kallang Practice Track, which included a sumptuous breakfast at the Kellogg’s booth, and attractive retail discounts offered by the Shape Run sponsors such as All Kurma, Eversoft, Kose Cosmeport, Senka and TFX.
